A small Wiltshire business has been recognised for their outstanding support to the Armed Forces Community.
Waves Training Solutions who are based in Salisbury, Wiltshire, have been awarded Gold in this year’s Defence Employer Recognition Scheme, along with 21 other employers across the United Kingdom, including Nationwide who are based Swindon.
The scheme is designed to recognise businesses who are working hard to support the Armed Forces Community. In order to qualify for a Gold Award, employers must not only pledge their support through the Armed Forces Covenant, but become advocates.
All employees of the company are members of the Armed Forces Community, whether that is service veterans, spouses of service personnel, Reservists or war pensioners. Waves has also demonstrated their support and advocacy through raising money for military charities and working hard to engage with the wider business community across the South West, in order to increase awareness of issues faced by the Armed Forces Community.
The Secretary of State for Defence, Mr Fallon, congratulated Waves on their success after a rigorous boarding process;
“Every year the level of support from companies across Britain for the Armed Forces continues to grow. This commitment is making a real difference to everyone who serves and their families – whether giving Reservists more time to train or supporting veterans or spouses, they embody what the Armed Forces Covenant is about.”
Waves Managing Director, Lou Whiting, herself an Army veteran who served for 16 years, is delighted with the award, “I am a huge advocate of employing military connected personnel; the humour, ethos and commitment they bring is unique and underpins our quality.
“Everyone in our team has contributed to the achievement of this prestigious award, which I believe, reflects the strong sense of Service that is at the core of our company culture and people.”
