The Royal Air Force Air Cadets (RAFAC) is a dynamic national youth organisation that offers young people aged 13–20 unique opportunities in aviation, adventure, and personal development. Across the South West, supported by Wessex RFCA, RAFAC Squadrons and Combined Cadet Force (CCF) RAF sections provide cadets with unforgettable experiences, from learning to fly gliders and powered aircraft, to taking part in adventurous training, leadership courses, and community projects.

With dozens of units across the region, the RAF Air Cadets play a vital role in inspiring the next generation of leaders and aviation enthusiasts in our region. Cadets not only gain flight experience but also develop confidence, discipline, and valuable life skills that stay with them for life.




In the South West, the RAF Air Cadets is structured into four key Wings;

Wessex RFCA plays a key role in maintaining cadet facilities, supporting adult volunteers, and promoting cadet opportunities across the region, ensuring young people have access to life-changing experiences with the RAF Air Cadets.
