Communications
Who We Communicate With
Our communications reach a wide and diverse audience. We engage with:
- Serving Reservists and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers
- Cadets and their families
- Employers of Reservists and Cadet Force volunteers
- Educational institutions
- Local authorities and civic leaders
- The wider public and media
- The Ministry of Defence and regional partners
Why Communication Matters
Effective communication helps raise awareness, foster understanding, and build meaningful relationships across all these groups. It helps us:
- Promote the vital role of the Reserves and Cadets in our communities and national Defence.
- Recognise and support the volunteers who give their time, skills, and energy to serve and mentor the next generation.
- Highlight opportunities for individuals to get involved, whether through joining, volunteering, supporting, or employing a Reservist.
- Strengthen partnerships with local employers and civic leaders, underlining the mutual benefits of supporting Defence.
- Encourage alignment with the Armed Forces Covenant and uptake of schemes like the Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS).
The Value to Defence and Our Stakeholders
For Defence, our communications are a vital tool in fostering a resilient and visible Reserve and Cadet footprint across the South West. By championing their stories and demonstrating their impact, we help ensure they are recognised as essential contributors to national security and community cohesion.
For our customers, whether they're Reservists, Cadets, employers, or partner organisations, our communications keep them informed, connected, and engaged. We ensure they are aware of developments, opportunities, and recognition schemes that benefit them directly and help them navigate their role in the Defence landscape.
At its heart, Wessex RFCA’s communications work builds understanding, inspires participation, and reinforces the essential ties between the Armed Forces and the communities they serve.
