The Help for Heroes Recovery Centre Tedworth House has been recognised for the high level of support it offers reserve employees.
Help for Heroes, a charity which offers lifelong support to wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women has seen all four of its recovery centres across the UK presented with a Silver Award under the Employer Recognition Scheme by SaBRE (Supporting Britain’s Reservists and Employers).
Centre manager Giles Woodhouse said: “We are delighted to be receiving this award.
“In my experience, reservists are exceptionally committed individuals who are an asset to the civilian workplace, especially here at Help for Heroes.
“As a charity, we are proud to support our employees who volunteer to serve their country as reservists.”
Major Allie Bennington, recovery operations manager at H4H, is also a reservist, based at Tedworth House.
She said: “I am very grateful that Help for Heroes has made a considerable effort to support me in building a successful reservist career.
“Through my job at H4H, I see a wide range of service personnel at the very end of their military careers, which have sadly been cut short through wounding, injury or sickness.
“However, I consider myself fortunate that, as a reservist assessor at the Army Officer Selection Board, I am also able to support individuals at the start of their Army career who hope to go forward to officer training at Sandhurst.
“Working at both ends of the military career spectrum offers a different challenge to helping wounded servicemen and veterans but both roles are equally rewarding.”
Jon Beake, regional campaign director for SaBRE, who presented the certificate, said: “That Help for Heroes represents the model of support for the Armed Forces community should be clear for all to see.
“In their intentions and their actions, they are nothing less than outstanding in the level of support that they provide.
“Enthusiastic, pro-active and deserved in their success, testimony can only do so much to confer the extraordinary support that they give to injured servicemen, veterans and their families.
“The support the organisation offers to reservist employees, in addition to their positive attitude, includes the flexibility of, as well as additional, leave to facilitate training and mobilisation.”
