Reserves support Combined Cadet Force Army Contingent
39 Signal Regiment were asked to carry out our Biannual Review last June, and it was during this review that they offered to start supporting a Combined Cadet Force Army Contingent, based in Brislington, Bristol in a more formal way.
The Regt appointed the Contingent a point of contact WO Richard “Richi” Ayling, who is the Regiment Adventure Training Officer. He has been a massive support from sourcing equipment for the Contingent to borrow, supporting weekends with both G4 and training qualifications.
The Contingent has had 39 Signal Regiment’s support for two weekends, the first in November and the second in January. The Contingent has two further weekend planned this year and 39 Signal Regiment is offering support to both weekends.
One permanent member of staff of the Contingent said “this relationship has been utterly amazing, the support is second to none, and in the eleven years I have been a Cadet Force Adult Volunteer I have never had anything like it. I am sure this relationship exists because Lee (who conducted the review) set the tone and the Regiment fell in.
On top of that Richi and Cpl Iian Hazelgrove are just great people who really seem to understand the Cadet Forces, recognising the support we need, but also recognising there is opportunities for them to use their qualifications and keep current by supporting us.”
