Reserves

Wessex RFCA supports around 32,000 Reservists across the UK, many of whom are based in the South West. These Reservists balance civilian careers with part-time military service, contributing specialist skills and training alongside Regular Forces.

The Reserve Forces include the Maritime Reserves (Royal Naval Reserve and Royal Marines Reserve), the Army Reserve, and the Royal Air Force Reserve. Reservists are mobilised during operational demands, serving both overseas and on domestic operations. They receive world-class training and perform to the same high standards as Regular personnel.

Wessex RFCA plays a vital role in supporting these Reservists, ensuring they are ready to serve when called upon, with the essential backing of their families and civilian employers. Their dedication is key to the UK’s Defence strategy, with Reservists contributing both individually and as part of cohesive units alongside Regular Forces.

In addition to supporting Reservists, Wessex RFCA is also responsible for maintaining and enhancing the training estate across the region. This includes managing a wide range of facilities that provide the essential infrastructure for training, ensuring Reservists have access to the best possible resources for their development and readiness.
