Estates Surveyor and Maintenance Manager (South)

Wessex Reserve Forces and Cadets Association provides and maintains accommodation for the Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ throughout the South West.   A vacancy has arisen for an Estates Surveyor and Maintenance Manager within the Association’s Works Department based at Taunton.

Successful applicants will possess a comprehensive skill-set including the ability to negotiate, build relationships, manage records and coordinate with contractors. Additionally, they should have sound knowledge of real estate, business and financial management, as well as all tasks associated with property maintenance, repairs, regulations and inspections.  The individual will visit locations to ensure compliant maintenance of the estate and resolve issues in a timely manner with approved contractors.  

Candidates should have a minimum of HNC in a building or related discipline. 

The salary is £31,136 per annum.

Annual leave, excluding public holidays, is 25 days per annum rising to 30 days after 5 years service.   Previous service in the public sector will count towards qualifying years’ service.

The successful applicant will be eligible to elect to join the Council of RFCAs Pension Scheme.  This is a Career Average Revalued Earnings (CARE) Scheme.

Head of Communications – Maternity Cover

A vacancy has arisen for a Head of Communications with the Wessex Reserve Forces and Cadets Association based at Taunton. This position is full time, to cover maternity leave from 27 November 2017 to 7 September 2018.                    

The Wessex RFCA is responsible for promoting the volunteer reserve forces of all three of the armed services and the service cadet organisations.

Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive, we are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic candidate to use their skills and experience to ensure that the reserve forces are recognised as an essential part of the nation’s armed strength; and that the Cadets are recognised as a premier youth movement. This is a challenging role, working in conjunction with others, focused on managing effective engagement with a variety of stakeholders both within the armed services and within the general community.

We would expect applicants to have degree level attainment in a related field with 2-3 years of experience in a Communications and/or PR role and be able to demonstrate a proven track record of success.   

The starting salary is £31,136 per annum.

Annual leave, excluding public holidays, is 25 days per annum (pro rata).
