Chamois Signs the Armed Forces Covenant

30.11.2022

Chamois Consulting Ltd, the UK-based specialist marketing and communications agency, signed the UK Armed Forces Covenant on Tuesday 29 November 2022.

The covenant was signed on behalf of Chamois by the CEO, Jamie Clarke, together with the MoD’s representative, Major General Simon Hutchings OBE, at the MoD’s Abbey Wood facility.

The UK Armed Forces Covenant is a promise by the nation ensuring that those who serve or who have served in the armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly. The covenant states: “To those who proudly protect our nation, who do so with honour, courage, and commitment, the Armed Forces Covenant is the nation’s commitment to you. It is a pledge that together we acknowledge and understand that those who serve or who have served in the armed forces, and their families, should be treated with fairness and respect in the communities, economy and society they serve with their lives”.

Jamie Clarke, CEO at Chamois said: “as a veteran owned and staffed business, I’m exceedingly proud to be signing the Armed Forces Covenant today. In my experience, what forces veterans bring to the commercial world in terms of capability, reliability and work ethic is second to none. Quite simply, our veterans make our business. We’re committed to supporting our veterans and as we grow, adding yet more to the team. Signing the covenant today is a formalisation of that commitment”. He added: “I’m particularly pleased that General Simon has been able to represent the MoD today on this, one of his very last days in uniform.  General Simon and I began our careers as British Army Officers on the same Potential Officers Course, back in September 1989.  To shake Simon’s hand today at the other end of his hugely successful military journey is very special indeed – thank you and congratulations on a truly impressive career”.

Major General Simon Hutchings OBE, Director Joint Support at UK MoD said: “It’s always an honour to represent the MoD at signings such as this as civilian companies commit to the Armed Forces Covenant and I welcome that commitment made by Chamois today. It is a poignant day for me personally as it’s one of the last days I’ll wear my service dress uniform, as I close in on retirement.  It is also somewhat poetic to be signing with Jamie, us having started out together 33 years ago, as he’s already said.  My congratulations and my thanks go to the entire Chamois team of veterans for all that you have contributed to the defence industry and the wider service and veteran community. Over the years I have seen the support that Chamois has given to various service charities and activities, including my own passion, Army motorsport – thank you”.
