Plymouth Business Breakfast

20.04.2023

April’s Plymouth Armed Forces Covenant (AFC) business breakfast at Crowne Plaza Plymouth saw a full room of businesses hear about the AFC, the talent pools of the Armed Forces community and, in particular, Reservists.

Our volunteer Employer Engagement Group lead for Plymouth, Natasha M., from Gold Award-holding law firm Wolferstans, was joined by fellow Gold ERS holder Paul Montgomery of SIR FIX A LOCK LIMITED, Serena Davis Commanding Officer of Plymouth’s Royal Naval Reserve Unit, HMS Vivid, and Army Reservist LCpls Neale and Baldwin from 6 Rifles.

The two young Reservist soldiers spoke with confidence (despite the drilling that erupted next door!) about the skills and experience gained from their time in uniform, the balance between work, family and their service, as well as the opportunities including being mobilised on operations.

The conversation in the room was buzzing and included people wanting to employ Service Leavers and senior Cadets, and others sharing their experiences and successes of supporting Defence People.

For those who were unable to attend this “sell-out” event, we’ll be doing something in Plymouth again in around six months, so keep your eyes peeled, let us know what you’d like to focus on and invite a business from your network who isn’t benefitting.
