PROMISEworks signs the Armed Forces Covenant

29.03.2023

PROMISEworks is a Somerset based organisation, that is committed to helping young people at risk of disadvantage and marginalisation to benefit as fully as possible from a life in Somerset.

How natural then does it feel, that it extends this commitment to members of the Somerset community who find themselves here either permanently or for a specified period of time due to their own or a family members career in the armed forces.

PROMISEworks already support a small number of young people with a parent in the services with a long-term mentor and whilst it cannot guarantee that every child in this situation who is referred will be matched, it can guarantee they will be considered with the same level of priority.

In addition to this, the organisation genuinely believes that involvement in PROMISEworks through volunteering could be an ideal way for military personnel or their adult family members to integrate into Somerset life and avoid the risk of exclusion from all that this wonderful county has to offer.

PROMISEworks was delighted to have been given the opportunity to sign the Armed Forces Covenant, alongside Major Tom French of 651 (HQ) Squadron 1 Regiment Army Air Corps from local Royal Naval Air Station Yeovilton, and undertake to uphold its commitment to it.
