Cornwall came together in celebration of dedication, leadership, and community service at the annual Lord-Lieutenant’s Awards Ceremony, held on 7th October 2025 at New County Hall, Truro.
The event, hosted by The Lord-Lieutenant of Cornwall, Sir Edward Bolitho, honoured individuals from across the county who have gone above and beyond in serving their communities and the nation through the Reserves and Cadet Forces.
The evening recognised exceptional personal commitment, long-standing voluntary service, and the next generation of inspirational young leaders.
Certificates for Meritorious Service
The Certificate for Meritorious Service was presented to individuals who have displayed exemplary dedication and professionalism within the Cadet Forces and Reserve community.
This year’s recipients were:
- Lieutenant Commander Benjamin Nash – Sea Cadet Corps
- Lieutenant William Chapman – Sea Cadet Corps
- Lieutenant Robert Mountford – Sea Cadet Corps
- Sub Lieutenant Jordan Nash – Sea Cadet Corps
- Sergeant Johanne Chapman – 165 Regimental Royal Logistic Corps
- Serjeant Robyn Parker – D Coy 6 Rifles
- Regimental Quarter Master Serjeant Dennis Heathcote – Cornwall Army Cadet Force
- Serjeant Major Instructor Gavin Tyler – Cornwall Army Cadet Force
- Serjeant Major Instructor Simon Warne – Cornwall Army Cadet Force
- Staff Serjeant Steve Tomlinson – Cornwall Army Cadet Force
Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadets
A highlight of the ceremony was the investiture of the new Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadets, a prestigious appointment recognising exceptional young people within the Cadet Forces.
The following Cadets were appointed to support the Lord-Lieutenant in official duties over the coming year:
- Cadet Serjeant Josh Crouchman – 41 Bude Platoon – Cornwall Army Cadet Force
- Leading Cadet Josh Benton – Falmouth Penryn Sea Cadets
- Flight Sergeant Amilee Carter-Schnepp – 335 (Saltash) Squadron RAF Air Cadets
In a touching moment, RSM Chloe McCarthy of Cornwall Army Cadet Force, the outgoing Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet, gave a presentation reflecting on her year of service. Her remarks were heartfelt and inspiring, offering a fitting transition as she handed over the honour to her successors. At the same time she highlighted the incredible opportunities she has had access to this year.
“This role has been a once in a lifetime opportunity. Not only have I met so many amazing and inspirational people, I have also made incredible memories which will stay with me forever. I wish the best of luck to the new Lord Lieutenant’s Cadets as you will have a fantastic year, it does go very quickly.”
Presentation of the Cadet Forces Medal Clasp
The ceremony also featured the presentation of the Cadet Forces Medal Clasp to Major Chris Quelcutti of Cornwall Army Cadet Force, recognising an extraordinary 39 years of volunteering. Major Quelcutti was commended for his decades of selfless service and dedication to supporting and inspiring generations of young people across Cornwall.
The ceremony concluded with a rousing and memorable performance by ‘Oll an Gwella’, the much-loved male voice choir from Newquay, whose harmonies provided a fitting and uplifting finale to an evening of celebration.
